Columbia Theological Seminary offers programs of graduate degree for men and women seeking leadership positions in the Church. Located in the suburb of Atlanta in Decatur, the seminar is one of ten educational institutions affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (United States). Columbia Theological Seminary has acquired a reputation for excellence at the national and international level.
The seminar was founded in 1828 in Lexington, Georgia. In 1830, the school moved to Columbia in South Carolina and took its current name. As Atlanta became a centre of growing population in the 1920s, he decided to move the Seminary of Decatur, Georgia, only six miles east of downtown Atlanta. They can participate in volleyball, tennis and aerobics, and intramural sports such as football, basketball and softball. Spouses of students can participate in laity and continuing training programmes free of charge. Students participate in the chapel four times a week, and several spiritual retreats are offered each year. Columbia encourages its students to participate in various types of awareness to the community. The possibilities of service include assisting in shelters for homeless people, prison ministries and programs for children. Students of the seminar are available for supply preaching to churches in the region. The seminar provides housing for single students, married students without children and students with children.
